Privacy

Last updated: April 14, 2026

BookHabit is built privacy-first. This page summarizes what that means in practice. The full legal policy will ship with v1.0 at launch.

What we store on your device

Your books, sessions, reflections, streaks, and settings live in a local database on your phone. If you use BookHabit as a guest, that's the only place your reading data exists.

What we store in the cloud (only if you sign in)

Signing in with Apple, Google, or email lets BookHabit back up your library to our servers so you can restore it on a new device. Backups are encrypted. We store your email, display name, and your encrypted library data. Nothing else.

What we don't do

No third-party analytics. No Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or Firebase Analytics. No ad networks. No tracking pixels. No selling your data.

AI runs on your phone

BookHabit's AI features (reflection prompts, pattern coaching, reading-history recaps) run entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework on iOS 26+. Your reading data never leaves your phone to power AI features. There is no cloud fallback.

Your data is yours

You can export your entire library as CSV or JSON at any time — free, guest or signed-in. You can delete all your data (local, cloud, and your account) from Settings → Privacy.

This is a pre-launch summary. The full privacy policy, including GDPR and CCPA-specific rights, will be published with v1.0.
